The Geneva Motor Show is always chock-full of automotive eye candy, which is probably why Kia has decided to unveil its new sexy concept there. The Korean automaker revealed it will be pulling the sheet off the new Sportspace concept, which naturally looks good with a wagon body style.
The trademark Kia “tiger-nose” grille design remains, with the rest of the front fascia reworked and restyled for a wider, more aggressive look. The concept’s wheels also look aggressive and sporty with a turbine-style interior spoke pattern. It gets better as your eyes move toward the rear, as the Sportspace concept boasts a lot of junk in the trunk with a shooting brake body style. The concept also appears to have a sporty side since it boasts sheetmetal folds in the rear bumper along with chrome exhaust tips. Designed at Kia’s Frankfurt studio, the Sportspace is supposed to be stylish, functional, and spacious enough for active people.
We first got a sneak peek at the Sportspace concept last week, though we were only able to see the front end of it. Although the car’s rear end was blocked out of the teaser image, the high roofline got us thinking the concept could preview an upcoming Optima wagon variant. Rumors have swirled that an Optima wagon was possible, and we know Kia has been working on the next-gen Optima since we’ve spied a camouflaged prototype testing in the desert. Even if Kia doesn’t plan on adding a wagon variant to the Optima lineup, the Sportspace concept could preview some of the changes we’ll see on the upcoming Optima. We’ll know more when the Sportspace concept bows at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show early next month.
