Ford’s automatic door guard
Some ideas are so simple, you wonder why no one has come up with them before. Ford did just that with its new automatic door guard. The ingenious device automatically covers the edge of the door with a piece of plastic to protect the door should it hit another car. It just as quickly disappears when the door begins to close. It eliminates those unsightly protection strip lines seen on other cars doors. Some owners may never even notice the guards, but they’ll certainly appreciate them the one time someone parks a little too close and they find themselves clipping the car next to them. – Scott Burgess
